Copper oak table

This table has a top consisting of hundreds of glued blocks of head oak. A very labor-intensive process, which reveals the wood in a very different way than is usual. The blocks are all turned a quarter turn, so that the wood grain is now no longer visible lengthwise. Instead, the "head" of the wood is visible, hence the name headwood. This way of working gives a subtle interesting effect, making you discover something new each time you look at the table.

Old butcher's chopping blocks or work floors are made of headwood, for extra hardness and splinter-free work. Spehrholz uses this application mainly for the visual effect. The fact that the table is also immediately less susceptible to scratches and dents is a nice bonus.
